For tourism purposes or to visit family and friends, there are two common types of TRV’s, or more commonly referred to as visitor visas:
- Single Entry Visa – this allows the foreign national only one entry into Canada; and
- Multiple Entry Visa – this allows the foreign national unlimited entry into Canada pending the validity of the Visa.
Certain foreign nationals from select countries are exempt from the requirements to obtain a TRV including nationals of the United Kingdom and the United States. Many foreign nationals from other European, South American, and Central American countries are also exempt. However, they may require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).
Certain business visitors to Canada may enter Canada to participate in international business activities on a TRV to attend meetings, seminars and conferences. However, a TRV does not permit a foreign national to work in Canada. Should a foreign national who is already in Canada on a TRV wish to work in Canada, he or she must still obtain a Work Permit. Refer to our Work Permit section for more information on working in Canada.
Kang & Company offers all services for TRV’s including applications and appeals of negative decisions. Don’t risk being disappointed and contact us for information, options, and assistance in applying for a Visitor Visa successfully!
